Timeline

February 2026 to ongoing

Snapshot

  • 1,546 — catalogue line items

  • 72 — manufacturers across 12 categories

  • ~40% — reduction in Claude token use

The challenge

A UK B2B distributor needed its full product catalogue live on WordPress from a six-page Figma, at a scale where manual entry was not a realistic path.

What I did

Drive the build through the WordPress MCP and develop a design-token plus ASCII-layout prompting method, so the model produced production markup instead of approximations.

The work

1,546 line items published across 72 manufacturers and 12 categories, including 1,545 unique SKUs at a 0.06% duplication rate and 72 manufacturer logo navigation assets. The prompting methodology cut token use roughly 40% against an unstructured baseline.

Stack: WordPress, WordPress MCP, Figma, Claude, design-token prompting

  • Catalogue: 1,546 line items live, 1,545 unique SKUs at a 0.06% duplication rate

  • Structure: 72 manufacturers across 12 categories, with 72 logo navigation assets

  • Method: ~40% reduction in Claude token use via design-token and ASCII-layout prompting

Structured prompts are an engineering artefact. Specifying tokens and layout up front is what made a 1,546-item build affordable.

Industry context

Catalogue specialists put standard-tier product population at 8 to 12 SKUs per hour, which is roughly 129 to 193 hours of manual entry for 1,546 line items (MercuryMinds, 2026).
